Israel moves to revoke ID from released Palestinian prisoner

JERUSALEM, June 4, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities issued an order to revoke the Israeli residency status of Mohammad Ali Atoun, a 22-year-old Palestinian from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sur Baher, just months after his release from Israeli prison.

Atoun, who was freed in February 2025 as part of the fifth batch of prisoners released under the Gaza ceasefire agreement, was summoned for questioning this week following a raid on his home. He previously served more than two years of a four-and-a-half-year sentence.

During the interrogation, he was handed the revocation order, signed by Israeli Interior Minister Moshe Arbel and dated May 28, 2025.
