RAMALLAH, June 3, 2025 (WAFA) – The Cabinet Tuesday emphasized the urgent need for international intervention to halt Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The Cabinet also called for concrete measures to confront Israel’s continued violations of international law, particularly its unlawful seizure of land in Area C, which amounts to more than 60 percent of the total area of the occupied West Bank, and the forced displacement of communities, especially in the Jordan Valley, Hebron's Masafer Yatta, and other vulnerable regions.
During the opening of the weekly Cabinet session, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa briefed ministers on the ongoing preparations for the upcoming international conference on the two-State solution, to be held mid-month in New York under the auspices of the United Nations and co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France.
The conference’s agenda will feature a series of intensive sessions covering key areas including political, legal, economic, and security affairs, as well as the reconstruction of Gaza. A central focus will be on advancing the realization of Palestinian statehood, grounded in the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice. The significance of the conference lies in its anticipated outcome, most notably, the adoption of a concrete action plan and clearly defined steps toward the establishment of a Palestinian state, under international supervision.
He stated that, under the directives of President Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian government is continuing its diplomatic efforts to mobilize the necessary international support to ensure the success of the upcoming conference. These efforts are being carried out in close coordination with Arab partners and friendly countries.
In parallel, the government is finalizing a set of executive plans across various sectors, which will be integrated into the specialized sessions of the conference. These plans aim to secure international backing for the government’s strategies to strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people.
The Cabinet also reviewed the progress of decisions aimed at supporting displaced families and those affected by Israel’s military aggression in northern West Bank refugee camps. This includes the disbursement of five million shekels to 8,031 displaced families and the allocation of direct funding to accelerate urgent repairs on the vital Jabara Road in Tulkarem.
The Cabinet also addressed the continued efforts of the ministerial committee for emergency interventions, which is actively working to assess infrastructure rehabilitation needs and to provide temporary housing for displaced families.
