GAZA, June 4, 2025 (WAFA) – At least 18 Palestinians, including children and women, were killed on Wednesday when an Israeli drone targeted a tent sheltering displaced families at a school in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, according to medical sources.
The airstrike hit a tent inside Al-Hanawi School, where thousands of displaced residents had sought refuge. Local medics reported numerous injuries in addition to the confirmed fatalities.
In a related development, Israeli tanks opened fire on civilian homes in the Qizan al-Najjar neighborhood, also in southern Khan Younis, while northern and northeastern Gaza City came under renewed bombardment.
The attack is part of the ongoing Israeli military campaign launched on October 7, 2023, which has so far resulted in the killing of at least 54,510 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children. An estimated 124,901 people have been wounded, with many more trapped under rubble or unreachable by emergency crews due to ongoing shelling.
