QALQILIA, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained 11 Palestinians, including four teens, in multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
PPS confirmed in a press release that Israeli forces detained three Palestinians, including two 17-year-old teens, from the northern West Bank district of Qalqilia.
Israeli forces also conducted other raids in the northern West Bank districts of Nablus and Jenin, resulting in the detention of two others.
In the central West Bank, PPS confirmed that a Palestinian was rounded up from Kobar village, northwest of Ramallah.
Meanwhile, PPS also confirmed that two Palestinians, including a 17-year-old teen, were rounded up from Jerusalem district.
WAFA correspondent elaborated that undercover Israeli forces, known as Musta‘ribeen, ambushed and detained a man from the vicinity of his house in al-Eizariya town, southeast of Jerusalem, while the teen was rounded up from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabal al-Zeitun.
In the southern West Bank, Israeli military vehicles raided al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem, where soldiers rounded up two Palestinians, including a 17-year-old teen.
PPS confirmed that a similar raid was carried out in Dura town, southwest of Hebron, resulting in the detention of a former prisoner.
In Salfit city, Israeli military vehicles raided the eastern entrance of the city, where soldiers seized recordings of surveillance cameras of a local gas station.
WAFA correspondent noted that the recordings were seized under the pretext that a settler’s vehicle came under fire while driving near Ariel settlement.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
