Israeli forces continue aggression on Jenin for the 120th consecutive day

JENIN, May 20, 2025 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp for the 120th consecutive day, expanding their bulldozing and destruction operations inside the camp to alter its features and structure, in addition to continuing to prevent entry or access to it.

WAFA correspondent reported that the occupation forces have paved approximately 15 roads inside Jenin camp, which is less than half a square kilometer in area.

Quoting the Jenin Municipality, the correspondent noted that the camp's infrastructure has been completely destroyed, with 60% of the city's infrastructure destroyed, as well as 120 kilometers of roads, 42 kilometers of water pipelines, and 99 kilometers of sewage lines.

Last Monday evening, the occupation forces stormed the vicinity of the Arab American University in Jenin and set up a checkpoint on the road leading to the village of Jalqamush to the east, causing a traffic jam. Occupation vehicles and equipment were also located near the American University dormitories, which house displaced persons from Jenin camp after being forcibly displaced since the start of the aggression.

The occupation forces also continue to fire live ammunition intensively inside Jenin camp, despite the fact that it is completely empty of residents. On Monday, the occupation forces were stationed at the entrance to the camp, known as the Horse Roundabout.

WAFA correspondent reported that the few images emerging from Jenin camp show unprecedented destruction to homes, citizens' property, and infrastructure.

The occupation forces are intensifying their military reinforcements to Jenin camp and its surroundings, and are deploying infantry units near it.

Yesterday, the occupation forces stormed the village of Umm al-Tut and Khirbet Talfit, east of Jenin, deploying infantry units and raiding several homes.

The villages of Jenin Governorate are witnessing almost daily incursions as the aggression against the city and camp continues. Daily military movements are recorded in most of the governorate's villages, along with a constant presence of occupation patrols and vehicles.

The occupation forces also continue to completely close off Jenin camp and prevent access to it, while bulldozing and destroying buildings inside it, aiming to alter its structure and features.

According to Jenin Municipality estimates, approximately 600 homes were completely destroyed in the camp, while the rest were partially damaged and rendered uninhabitable.

Jenin also suffered extensive damage to facilities, homes, and infrastructure, particularly in the eastern neighborhood and the Al-Hadaf neighborhood.

Families from the camp, along with hundreds of families from the city and its surroundings, remain forcibly displaced. The Jenin Municipality indicates that the number of displaced persons from the camp and city has exceeded 22,000, representing 23% of the total population of the city and camp.

The economic situation in Jenin is deteriorating further, with heavy commercial losses resulting from the offensive. This has led to the closure of many shops and a decline in shopping traffic entering the city from outside. Furthermore, the bulldozing and destruction of infrastructure and streets has also resulted in the damage to a large number of shops and the closure of several, especially in the western neighborhoods, which are experiencing near-total economic paralysis. The aggression has caused losses initially estimated at more than $300 million, while the municipality estimates that approximately 4,000 citizens of Jenin and 2,000 residents of the camp have lost their jobs.

Since the start of the aggression on the city and camp on January 21, 2020, 40 people have been killed, along with dozens more injured and arrested.
