RAMALLAH/GAZA, Saturday, March 09, 2019 (WAFA) – Two Palestinians, a woman and a man, killed by Israeli army gunfire were laid to rest today in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in funeral processions attended by hundreds.
In the West Bank, hundreds of Palestinians participated in the funeral procession in Ramallah of Samah Mubarak, 16, whose body was handed over to her family after being held by Israeli forces for over two months.
Mubarak was shot dead by Israeli soldiers on January 30 at a checkpoint east of Jerusalem after an alleged stabbing attack. Her body had been withheld by the army since then and was only handed over to her family yesterday.
According to Palestinians, Israeli authorities withhold the bodies of slain Palestinians as a punishment for their families by preventing their burial in a proper manner and to use them as a bargaining chip in possible future prisoners exchange deals.
Meanwhile, hundreds of mourners in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, took part in the funeral procession of Tamer Khaled Arafat, 23, who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers during the weekly protests at Gaza border yesterday.
