Israel to demolish tents, barns near Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Thursday, March 07, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities handed on Thursday orders regarding the impending demolition of tents and animal barns in the village of Rashaydeh, east of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, according to the village’s mayor.

Fawwaz Rashaydeh said an Israeli army force accompanied by staff from the Israeli Civil Administration broke into the village and handed notices ordering the demolition of five tents and animal barns for the alleged reason of construction without a permit.

He said army also confiscated a lorry containing mobile bathrooms serving the village’s Palestinian citizens.

Israel uses the pretext of building without a permit to carry out demolitions of Palestinian-owned homes on a regular basis.

Nearly all Palestinian applications for building permits in Area C are denied by the Israeli authorities, forcing communities to build illegally.

In recent years, Israeli occupation authorities demolished hundreds of homes in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on the grounds of lacking an Israeli construction permit, which is almost impossible to obtain for Palestinians under current Israeli policies.
