RAMALLAH, Thursday, March 07, 2019 (WAFA) – Each of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted a different topic on its front page today.
Al-Quds highlighted the tense situation at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem as Israel intensified its measures to shut down Bab al-Rahma prayer area in the Muslim holy compound despite strong Palestinian objections.
Al-Ayyam highlighted the protests on the Gaza border with Israel that injured six people, one of them critical, who died early this morning.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted the meeting of the Arab foreign ministers in Cairo during which they discussed the Palestinian issue among others.
In other news, Al-Hayat al-Jadida said a delegation from the Central Elections Commission traveled to Gaza to discuss preparations for legislative elections.
It also said the Palestinian women movement held an event in Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem, marking International Women Day, which coincides tomorrow.
This was reported as well in al-Ayyam, which also said on the issue of Bab al-Rahma that the Muslim Waqf department, which is in charge of Al-Aqsa compound, denied that it has an agreement with Israeli authorities to shut down Bab al-Rahma prayer area.
Al-Ayyam said a European court rejected an appeal by Hamas against listing it as a terrorist organization.
It also quoted an official source denying that the Egyptian security delegation that visited Gaza carried with it Israeli ultimatums.
Al-Quds also reported on the Egyptian delegation and said it carries with it Israeli responses, as well as on the European court ruling in the Hamas appeal.
It reported as well on the Israeli arrests, demolitions and other measures in the West Bank, and said that calls have been made to confront Israeli rejection of granting Palestinians in Jerusalem building permits.
The paper published an interview with lawmaker Khalida Jarrar, who was recently released from Israeli prison after serving 20 months in administrative detention.
It said in a report from its Washington correspondent that Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is leading the pro-Israel lobby, AIPAC, to become hysterical.
