JERUSALEM, Tuesday, March 05, 2019 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians Tuesday morning suffocated from tear gas canisters fired by Israeli forces in Jerusalem’s Shufat refugee camp.
WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli police closed off the military checkpoint installed at camp’s entrance, preventing students and other residents from reaching their schools and workplaces and causing them to lose important time.
He also reported witnesses that police at the checkpoint deliberately closed the traffic lane of school buses and other vehicles and started to inspect the buses and passengers, prompting students aboard buses to get out and drivers to honk their vehicle horns.
Police intensively and randomly fired gas and toxic bombs towards the camp’s entrance after students and residents protested the closure, causing dozens to suffocate from tear gas inhalation.
WAFA correspondent pointed out that Palestinian shop owners were forced to close their shops in the area following the rising tensions.
