RAMALLAH, Saturday, March 02, 2019 (WAFA) – The weekly March of Return protests on the Gaza border with Israel that left dozens injured by Israeli army gunfire was highlighted on the front page of today’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
They said among the wounded were three in serious condition, medics and a journalist who were directly hit in the leg by teargas grenades.
In addition, the dailies highlighted the weekly protests in the West Bank and attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian villages.
Al-Quds quoted the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the occupied Palestinian territory saying in its biweekly report on protect of civilians that settlers uprooted over 660 olive trees in the West Bank while the Israeli army destroyed three water networks denying thousands of people drinking water and demolished 36 structures within a two-week period.
It said Minister of Finance Shukri Bishara discussed the economic situation in Palestine with the European Union envoy to the Middle East peace process.
The paper also said 50,000 Muslims attended the Friday prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and at Bab al-Rahma area within the holy compound, while those who were banned by the Israeli authorities from entering Al-Aqsa compound held the prayers outside its gates.
Al-Quds also reported on the process that led Egypt to release four members of Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas movement, in spite of denial of their existence on Egyptian soil and who were held in Egypt for several years. The four returned to Gaza after their release.
Al-Ayyam, in a report by its correspondent in Jerusalem, quoted whom it described as a senior White House official saying that what has been published regarding the American deal of the century is nothing more than assumptions and that very few people know what is in the deal.
It said the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan is facing serious landslides due to underground Israeli excavations.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida also said that the heavy rain of the last few days showed who bad the infrastructure in the West Bank is which malfunctioned in the storms.
The papers also reported on the predicament of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following charges of corruption, which could cost him his political future and end up in prison.
They also reported on the demonstrations in Algeria.
