Weather forecast: Temperature plummets as cold front affects the region

 

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 (WAFA) – The region on Wednesday is set to be affected by a low pressure with a cold front, which causes temperature to plummet, said Palestine Meteorological Departments.

Cloudy and cold conditions are expected in daytime and very cold conditions in nighttime with torrential rains, thunderstorms and occasional hail on most districts. Wind is southwesterly to westerly and active with gusts reaching 60km/h. Sea waves are high.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 11°C and a low of 6°C and in Ramallah, a high of 10°C and a low of 5°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 19°C and a low of 11°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 15°C and a low of 10°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

PMD expects the low pressure to continue to affect the region on Thursday, causing temperature to further plummet. Cloudy, cold to very cold and windy conditions are expected, along with torrential rains, thunderstorms and occasional hail. Wind gusts are expected to reach 80km/h.

Partially cloudy and mainly chilly conditions are expected for Friday. Scattered light rains are set to fall on various districts, with chances of rainfall diminishing during the afternoon and evening hours and the low pressure receding during the night.  

PMD expects partially cloudy and mainly chilly conditions are expected for Saturday. Scattered rain showers are expected to fall on most districts.

PMD warns people against gusty winds, floods in low areas and valleys, low visibility due to fog formation and slippery roads on Wednesday and Thursday.
