JERUSALEM, Sunday, February 24, 2019 (WAFA) – The Israeli magistrates’ court of Jerusalem last night ordered the release of three Palestinians, including an official of Fatah, who had been arrested by Israeli police yesterday, on condition that they stay away from Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem for three days.
The three, Nasser Abu-Qous - a Fatah official-, Ali Ajaj and Husni Kilani, were supposed to be released today morning, but the Israeli Public Prosecutor’s office asked the court to defer their release until Sunday evening.
Ajaj and Qous led the effort to reopen the gate to Bab al-Rahma building inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Friday where thousands of Palestinians performed the Friday Muslim prayer inside it for the first time in 16 years.
Israeli police arrested more than 60 Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem over the last few days, many of them Fatah activists, for defying Israeli police orders and reopening Bab al-Rahma building for Muslim prayers.
