JENIN, Saturday, February 23, 2019 (WAFA) – Mohammad Sharqiyeh Freihat, from the town of Yamoun, west of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, entered today his 19th year behind bars in Israeli jails, making him the second longest-serving Palestinian political prisoner from the Jenin area, according to the Prisoner Society.
Freihat, who was arrested in Ramallah during the Israeli invasion of the city in 2000, was sentenced to 23 in prison for resisting the Israeli occupation, said Muntaser Sammour, director of the Jenin office of the Prisoner Society.
He said Freihat was denied family visits for a long time and was often put in solitary confinement for long periods as a punishment. He also has serious health issues.
