Weather: Low pressure affects the region, rain expected

 

RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 14, 2019 (WAFA) – Weather on Thursday is partially cloudy to cloudy and cold in daytime and very cold at night with a significant drop of temperature as a low pressure is expected to affect the region, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Scattered rain showers are expected on some districts, especially the northern.

Wind is southwesterly, active with strong gust and dusty at times. Sea waves are high.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 12°C and a low of 5°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 11°C and a low of 4°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 19°C and a low of 10°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 17°C and a low of 11°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

PMD expects Friday and Saturday’s weather to be partially cloudy to cloudy and cold to very cold. Rain and thunderstorms are expected on several districts, especially the northern. Rain is expected to become more torrential and accompanied with hail at night.

Partially cloudy and cold conditions are expected for Sunday. Temperature is expected to significantly rise. A chance of scattered rain showers is expected.

PMD warns people against floods in low areas and valleys, gusty winds, low visibility due to fog formation and slippery roads.
