RAMALLAH, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 (WAFA) – Palestinian officials condemned on Tuesday the display of posters on cement blocks in the occupied West Bank depicting President Mahmoud Abbas as a shooting target and saw in them crossing of all red lines.

Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in a statement that the incitement against the president’s life is “a crossing of all red lines.”

He warned the Israeli government against doing anything to harm the president.

Such incitement is unacceptable and rejected, said Abu Rudeineh, holding the Israeli government fully responsible for the incitement. He called on Israel to take all necessary measures to put a stop to such practices.

Saeb Erekat, General Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), also held the Israeli government responsible for anything that could happen as a result of the incitement against Abbas’ life.

He said in a statement that the "posters calling for the assassination of the president of the Palestinian people constitute a declaration for the open assassination of the path of peace pursued by the President and the Palestinian leadership, the elimination of the two-state solution and calling for confrontations and violence which the occupation power and the Trump Administration that encourages Israel will bear full responsibility for.”

Similar statements of condemnation came from the Palestinian government after its weekly meeting in Ramallah, the Foreign Ministry and Fatah movement.
