UNRWA warns of acute malnutrition among over 2,700 children in Gaza

RAMALLAH, June 11, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has reported that more than 2,700 children under the age of five in Gaza are suffering from acute malnutrition, as the humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave deepens.

In a statement on Monday, UNRWA highlighted that only one medical point is partially functioning in northern Gaza, while fuel supplies are critically low, further hampering humanitarian operations.

The agency reaffirmed its readiness to deliver large-scale humanitarian assistance in cooperation with other UN bodies, stressing that civilians should not have to risk their lives in search of food.

UNRWA also called on Israel to cooperate by providing evidence regarding serious allegations made against the agency. “It has been 20 months since the initial claims, and we have yet to receive any official response,” the agency stated.

Separately, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) underscored the urgency of the situation, reiterating that life-saving aid must be delivered in accordance with humanitarian principles and without endangering civilians.
