RAMALLAH, June 11, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa stressed the need to take practical and serious steps to halt the war of genocide against Palestinian people and end the humanitarian suffering and catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized that the issue of Palestinian people is not merely a humanitarian issue, but rather a political one that can be resolved by ending the occupation and establishing the Palestinian state.
This came during his meeting with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis on Wednesday at his office in Ramallah, in the presence of Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad and Swiss Representative to Palestine Anne-Lise Henin.
The meeting discussed efforts to stop the war on Gaza and coordinate positions for the success of the New York Conference.
Mustafa emphasized the need to open the crossings with the Gaza Strip, not to restrict aid distribution in light of the current mechanism, and to rely on experienced and specialized international organizations, most notably the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), for relief and humanitarian efforts in the Strip.
"We are counting on the peace conference to be held in New York next week to produce practical results and steps to preserve the two-state solution, secure further recognition of the State of Palestine, provide economic and financial support, and support efforts for development and institutional reform," The Prime Minister said.
Mustafa added, "We look forward to greater intervention from Switzerland, based on its belief in the two-state solution," appreciating the Swiss support provided to Palestine, both in terms of relief and humanitarian aid, and in support of UNRWA.
The Swiss Foreign Minister stressed the need for Israel to respect international and humanitarian law, ensure the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip, especially in light of the seriousness of the catastrophic humanitarian situation, support ceasefire efforts, and launch a roadmap for achieving peace within the vision of a two-state solution, while continuing to support the Palestinian Authority and strengthening joint cooperation.
