Japan inaugurates electrical network near Nablus

NABLUS, September 20, 2018 (WAFA) – Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, Thursday visited Beit Furik in Nablus Governorate to celebrate the installation of an electrical network and a transformer funded by the Government of Japan.

Beit Furik Municipality used a grant of $78,649 funded through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) to install 2,160 meters of underground medium voltage cables as well as a new transformer of 630 KVA.

This project aims at securing safe and sufficient electricity supply for Beit Furik where residents have suffered from the weak provision of electricity over years. About 2,400 residents (450 households) will benefit from the safe and improved electrical network.

In his speech, Okubo emphasized Japan’s firm commitment to supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.
