CAIRO, May 14, 2018 (WAFA) -- Egypt condemned on Monday Israel‘s excessive use of force against Palestinian civilians, which led to the death of dozens of Palestinians.
The Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs warned in a statement of the grave repercussions of Israel‘s dangerous escalation against the Palestinian people.
Israeli soldiers shot and killed 52 Palestinians on Monday during massive protests at the Gaza border and injured more than 2400 others, according to the Ministry of Health.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians gathered along the borders with Israel since the morning heeding calls for mass rallies to protest the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem and to mark the 70th anniversary for the Palestinian Nakba.
"Egypt rejects Israel‘s use of force against unarmed demonstrators who were demanding their lawful rights," according to the ministry‘s press release.
The ministry added that Egypt will always support the legal rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
