Central Council to discuss revising agreements with Israel, official

RAMALLAH, January 15, 2018 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Central Council is expected to resume meetings on Monday and with top on its agenda is revising the Oslo agreements the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) had signed with Israel in 1993, according to Fatah Central Committee member Azzam al-Ahmad.

He told Palestine TV on Sunday following the opening meeting of the 28th session of the Central Council in Ramallah that the agreements signed with Israel should be revised.

“With regard to the Oslo accords, Israel ended them after it reoccupied the West Bank and ceased its commitment to their terms,” he said.

In addressing the opening session of the Council meeting on Sunday, President Mahmoud Abbas called for revising the agreements the PLO had signed with Israel, citing Israel’s failure to implement them as the reason.

Ahmad criticized failure of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad to attend the Council meetings, saying that they have missed a historic opportunity to help strengthen efforts for reconciliation.
