JENIN, June 30, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday confiscated a monument honoring a slain Palestinian during an overnight raid that sparked violent clashes in Jenin city in the northern West Bank.
Escorting a bulldozer, Israeli forces raided the Haifa Street connected to the western entrance of Jenin city, where they removed and confiscated a memorial honoring slain Palestinian Khaled Nazzal.
Nazzal was a member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) who was assassinated by Israeli intelligence agency (Mossad) in Athens in 1986.
The raid triggered violent clashes with Palestinian residents who protested the raid and attempted to block Israeli troops.
Troops opened fire at protestors, hitting and injuring a 14-year-old and 16-year-old minors with live rounds in the chest and thigh.
