Paramedic among eight Palestinians injured by Israeli army in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, June 27, 2017 (WAFA) – At least eight Palestinians, including a paramedic, were last night injured by Israeli army fire during clashes in Dehesheh refugee camp, near Bethlehem city in the West Bank, according to local sources.

Witnesses told WAFA that during the clashes which erupted after the Israeli army broke into the camp, Israeli soldiers opened gunfire at point-blank range at Palestinian paramedic Alaa Balaawi, who works with the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, and injured him in the foot.

The soldiers also broke into Balaawi’s family house and reportedly assaulted his father and detained his brother.

Meanwhile, the soldiers clashed with Palestinian protesters in the camp and injured five of them with live ammunition in the lower parts of their body. A sixth Palestinian was also hit with a rubber-coated steel round in the head by the soldiers. They were moved to hospital for medical treatment.
