RAMALLAH, November 24, 2016 (WAFA) - About 115,000 guests spent 310,000 nights in Palestinian hotels in the West Bank during the third quarter of this year, up by 1 percent from the second quarter, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said on Thursday.
It said in a press release on hotel activities survey in the West Bank during the third quarter 2016 that 12 percent of the guests where from Asia.
While the number of hotel guests in the third quarter was 1 percent higher than it was in the second quarter, it nevertheless was 7 percent lower than the third quarter of 2015.
Of the hotels were the 310,000 guests stayed in the third quarter, said the PCBS, 42 percent of total nights were spent in hotels in the south of the West Bank and 25 percent in Jerusalem hotels.
During the third quarter of 2016, there were 2,930 hotel workers broken down into 2,258 males and 672 females.
Room occupancy rate in the West Bank was 20% in the third quarter of 2016, lower by 13 percent than it was in the third quarter of 2015 and 14 percent than it was in the second quarter of 2016.
North of West Bank has 26 hotels comprising 496 rooms with 1,383 beds, center (excluding Jerusalem) has 36 hotels comprising 1,634 rooms with 3,353 beds, Jerusalem has 20 hotels comprising 1,265 rooms with 2,826 beds and the south of West Bank has 37 hotels comprising 3,461 rooms with 7,572 beds.
