JERUSALEM, November 12, 2016 (WAFA) – The Israeli authorities Saturday told well-known Jerusalem activist and academic, Jamal Amro, that his home will be demolished under the pretext it was built without a permit.
An Israeli policed force handed Amro, an architectural engineer and expert on Jerusalem’s Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque, the demolition order at his home in al-Thuri, a Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem.
Israel has been regularly targeting Amro for his outspoken defense of Muslim rights to Al-Aqsa Mosque, which Jewish fanatics want to claim for themselves as Temple Mount, and his scientific argument based on architectural findings rejecting any Jewish right to that holy spot in Jerusalem’s Old City.
He and his family have been ordered against entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for long periods of time and he has been banned from travel abroad to prevent him from speaking at international forums about the mosque’s history and archaeology.
His 10-year-old son was recently arrested by the police and later released.
Threatening to demolish his home is believed to be a punishment for his activism.
