BETHLEHEM, November 5, 2016 (WAFA) - David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, visited Saturday the Nativity Church in Bethlehem on the second day of his visit to Palestine.
He was accompanied by Bethlehem governor Jibrin Bakri and Mayor Vera Baboun as well as Christian religious leaders, who briefed the visitor on the history of the church and the recent renovations.
Johnston arrived in Palestine on Friday where he held talks with President Mahmoud Abbas at the Muqata and inaugurated the first forensic laboratory at the police headquarters in Ramallah.
He also met in Ramallah with Palestinian academics, businessmen and civil society activists.
While in Bethlehem, Johnston is scheduled to visit al-Shuruq School for The Blind and then deliver a lecture at Bethlehem University on the subjects of environment and creativity.
