RAMALLAH, October 31, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli army killing of a Palestinian near Hebron after he allegedly rammed his car into a group of soldiers stationed outside the town of Beit Ummar was the main front page headline in the Monday issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.

The three papers printed pictures of the incident with Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida also printing a picture of the perpetrator of the alleged attack Khaled Ahmad Illian, 23, from Beit Ummar.

The two papers also highlighted statements by President Mahmoud Abbas saying “We will knock at the doors of the United Nations to gain full membership and to demand halt to settlements.”

Statements by presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh saying “Israeli media distortion campaign will not affect our people’s steadfastness and it is doomed for failure,” was also featured on the front page of the three dailies.

Al-Quds had a report about Israeli plan to build a large commercial quarter on Lifta and Deir Yasin land in West Jerusalem.

The papers also included a report about the confrontations in Nablus between Palestinian security forces and what the papers and officials had described as “outlaws.”

They quoted Nablus governor Akram Rjoub telling the people of Balata refugee camp, where the security campaign was concentrated, saying:”Our activity is aimed against the outlaws and we welcome any sincere effort to close this file,” as was the headline in al-Quds.

Rjoub told al-Hayat al-Jadida that “the security forces will continue with their mission in Balata to arrest outlaws.”

The papers also said in an article that Israel is working on preventing Palestine from joining the Interpol.
