JERUSALEM, October 24, 2016 (WAFA) – Hardline Israelis marched on Monday through Jerusalem’s Old City area provoking the city’s Palestinian residents and in some instances holding religious rituals at the gates to al-Aqsa Mosque, residents said.
The extremists, who held their activities under heavy police protection, were marking the last day of the Jewish Sukkot holiday.
Dozens of extremists also stormed al-Aqsa Mosque compound under police protection also as part of the holiday activity provoking as a result the Muslim worshippers at the mosque.
The site is revered by Muslims as their third holiest place, while Jews claim the mosque is the site of two Jewish temples destroyed in ancient times.
