Israeli navy boats open fire at Gaza fishermen

KHAN YUNIS, October 15, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli navy boats opened fire Saturday at fishermen off Khan Yunis coast forcing them to return to shore, according to local officials.

They said the Israeli boats shot several rounds of bullets at the Gaza fishermen but luckily no one was hurt.

Israeli s the fishing area off the Gaza coast to three nautical miles, which is hardly enough to catch fish, a livelihood necessity for Gazans.

Navy boats often chase fishermen in sea, seize their boats and detain them.

Gaza has been under Israeli siege since 2006.
