Israeli army opens fire on Gaza fishermen, farmers

GAZA, October 12, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli military forces Wednesday opened fire at Palestinians along the borderline area to the east of Gaza and Khan Younis cities, as well as at Palestinian fishing boats while sailing in Gaza waters, said sources.

Israeli forces stationed at military watchtowers along the borders with Israel opened fire at farmers and while they were tending to their borderline agricultural land to the east of al-Shajaiya and al-Zaytoun areas, forcing them to leave the area.

No injuries were reported.

Forces also opened fire at farmers and bird hunters along the borderline area to the east of Khan Younis and al-Qarara areas. No one was reportedly injured.

Meanwhile, Israeli naval boats opened fire at Palestinian fishermen‘s boats despite sailing within the designated fishing zone off the shore of al-Waha and al-Sudaniya areas, causing financial damages to at least two boats.

No injuries were reported.

Israeli army and navy routinely open fire at Palestinian fishermen and farmlands along the Gaza border in a blatant violation of a ceasefire deal reached between Israel and the Palestinian factions in Gaza on August 26, 2014 following 51 days of bloody aggression on the Strip.
