PLO official says ICC delegation avoided meeting Palestinian committee

RAMALLAH, October 10, 2016 (WAFA) – A Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) official said on Monday that a delegation from the International Criminal Court (ICC) avoided during its visit to the Palestinian areas meeting with the national committee set up by President Mahmoud Abbas to follow up with the ICC.

Ahmad Majdalani, member of the PLO Executive Committee, told Voice of Palestine that the delegation’s visit was only to raise awareness of the Court’s work, expressing concern that the United States and Israel have pressured the ICC to keep the visit informal.

“We will continue to work and communicate with and to pressure by all means within our right as Palestinians the ICC,” he said.

Palestinians have asked the ICC to investigate Israel’s settlement activities and military assaults against Gaza as crimes against humanity and war crimes.
