RAMALLAH, September 29, 2016 (WAFA) – Nimr Hammad, an adviser to President Mahmoud Abbas, died on Thursday at the American University hospital in Beirut after long struggle with a chronic illness. He was 78.
Abbas expressed his deepest sympathies to Hammad’s family.
Hamad, who was born in Acre in 1938, will be buried in al-Shuhada cemetery in Beirut Friday afternoon.
He served as ambassador to Italy and as a political advisor to the late leader Yasser Arafat and Abbas who issued a decree on February 21, 2008 instructing him to supervise WAFA news agency and the Palestine Broadcasting Corporation.
