Families forced to leave homes to make room for military exercises

JORDAN VALLEY, September 29, 2016 (WAFA) – The Israeli military Thursday forced 19 Palestinian families in Khirbat Humsa al-Fuqa in the northern Jordan Valley to leave their homes in order to make room for military exercise in the area, said a local official.

Mutaz Bsharat, an official from the Jordan Valley, said the families were told that they should leave their homes because the army wants to conduct military drills using live ammunition.

The drill will continue through Friday, he said.

The Palestinians accuse the Israeli military of regularly carrying out military exercises in areas where Palestinian Bedouin community live in the Jordan Valley in order to vacate the area in preparation to built settlements there.

The military exercises are never held in areas where settlements are built, say Palestinian officials.
