Security official says forces will not stand by when shot at

RAMALLAH, September 29, 2016 (WAFA) – A senior Palestinian official said on Wednesday night that the security forces will not stand by and not do anything when fired at.

Speaking at a meeting in Jericho, the spokesman of the security forces, General Adnan Damiri, said there will be no immunity for anyone who violates the law.

“There is no immunity for anyone who violates the law and the security forces will not stand by with its hands tied when shot at,” he said.

Damiri was referring to the latest events in Nablus when gunmen opened fire early Wednesday at a force during a security activity in Balata refugee camp.

He said wanted gunmen monitored the movement of the force in Balata and then opened fire at it. The force returned fire injuring four people. One of them later died in hospital.

“The activity of the security forces is not ed to one area against another,” he said, “but it rather covers the entire West Bank, from Jenin (in the north) to Hebron (in the south).”

The Palestinian forces will continue to provide security and law and order to the people everywhere in the Palestinian territories and will continue to arrest wanted outlaws, said the security official.
