Former hunger striker released, transferred to Ramallah hospital

RAMALLAH, September 24, 2016 (WAFA) – Former Palestinian detainee Malik al-Qadi was Saturday released by Israel to Palestinian medics and transferred to a Ramallah hospital.

Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC) medics said they transferred al-Qadifrom the Israeli Wolfson Medical Center to the Istishari Arab Hospital in Ramallah.

Al-Qadi’s health remains very fragile three days after he ended his 68-day hunger strike. According to PRC medics, he suffers from persistent heart and lung issue and will remain in the intensive care.

Al-Qadi ended his hunger strike along with the Balboul brothers on Wednesday following a decision by Israeli authorities not to extend their administrative detention.

Muhammad and Mahmoud Balboul, who had been on a hunger strike for 77 and 79 days respectively, are set to be released on December 8.
