RAMALLAH, September 19, 2016 (WAFA) – The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission has called on Monday for a day of rage in solidarity with hunger striking Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails.
The commission called for mass rallies and a day of rage across the West Bank on Tuesday in support of Mohammad and Mahmoud Balboul and Malik Qadi who have been on hunger strike for over 70 days in protest against their detention without charge or trial.
“The situation is no longer tolerable,” said the commission in a press release. “The hunger striking detainees are dying slowly, which calls for immediate intervention to save their lives,” it said.
According to the organization, some 120 Palestinian detainees have so far joined the Balboul brothers and Qadi in their hunger strike.
It said all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails have decided to refuse receiving their daily meals on Tuesday to express their anger at Israel’s disregard to the life of the hunger strikers.
