HEBRON, September 17, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces on Saturday shot dead a Palestinian following an alleged stabbing attack at the entrance of Tel Rumeida neighborhood in Hebron’s Old City, according to witnesses and Ministry of Health.
Witnesses said they saw the body of Abdul Ghani Shaludi, 26, on the ground after he was shot dead by soldiers manning a checkpoint in the area.
The Israeli army claimed Shaludi stabbed and lightly injured a soldier before he was shot dead.
The soldiers prevented a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance from reaching the scene, said the witnesses.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the killing of Shaludi.
Shaludi was the third Palestinian gunned down by Israeli forces in less than 24 hours in the southern West Bank city of Hebron after alleged attacks.
A fourth, a Jordanian citizen, was shot dead in Jerusalem’s Old City after he allegedly attempted to stab Israeli police officers. He was identified Said Amr, 28, who entered occupied Palestinian territories via the Allenby Bridge crossing on Thursday.
Soldiers shot dead a Palestinian on Friday after he allegedly stabbed and lightly wounded an Israeli soldier near the Tel Rumeida neighborhood.
Earlier on Friday, Israeli forces opened fire at a car with two people inside it killing one and injuring another claiming the driver attempted to ram into settlers near Kiryat Arba settlement, outside of Hebron’s Old City.
The slain Palestinian was identified as Moussa Khaddour, 18, while the wounded woman was identified as 18-year-old Raghad Khaddour.
The circumstances surrounding the killings remain unclear and are largely based on the Israeli version of events.
An estimated 800 hardline and fanatic Israeli settlers live under the protection of hundreds of soldiers in Hebron’s city center, which was divided into H1, where 30,000 Palestinians live under Palestinian control, and H2, where the settlers live mainly in the old city under Israeli rule.
The fatal shooting of Shaludi marked the latest in the spat of killings of Palestinians and stabbing and shooting attacks against Israelis that has gripped Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories since October 2015.
