RAMALLAH, September 10, 2016 (WAFA) – The killing of a Palestinian teenager by Israeli forces during a protest near the border between Israel and the besieged Gaza Strip was reported as the main front page story in Palestinian dailies on Saturday.
The incident happened east of al-Bureij refugee camp.
The dailies also said scores of Palestinians and international solidarity activists were injured from rubber bullets and suffered from tear gas inhalation as Israeli forces crushed the weekly Friday protests across the West Bank.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida added that Palestinians protested in the Ramallah village of Bil‘in in solidarity with hunger striking Balboul brothers.
It added Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters at a center in the Bethlehem refugee camp of Aida while some 40 children were inside.
Highlighting the critical health condition of Malik Qadi, who has been on hunger strike in an Israeli prison for 60 days in protest of his administrative detention, the dailies said Qadi slipped into a coma.
Al-Quds added an Israeli court suspended the administrative detention of Qadi following the serious deterioration in his health.
Highlighting Israeli plans to advance settlement expansion in Jerusalem, al-Quds said Israeli occupation authorities seized a plot of land in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabal al-Mukabbir to build a synagogue for Nof Zion settlement.
The dailies also highlighted President Mahmoud Abbas’ meeting in Ramallah with representatives of Mexican Jewish communities.
Abbas was reported in al-Quds as expressing his keenness on meeting representatives of Jewish communities all over the world in order to explain the Palestinian perspective.
He was also reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida as stating the Palestinian people and leadership strive to bring about a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
In relation to Israeli allegations that World Vision Gaza director Muhammad Halabi siphoned funds for Hamas, al-Quds and al-Ayyam said World Vision laid off 120 contract-based employees working in projects in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The three dailies reported 66 European parliamentarians urged FIFA to take measures against Israeli football clubs in the West Bank settlements.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted a B’Tselem report on the killing of 19-year-old Muhamad Abu Hashhash during a raid of Fawwar refugee camp near Hebron on August 16 who was killed by a sniper even though he posed no threat.
Al-Ayyam reported on statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he described Palestinians not wanting settlers in the future Palestinian state as “ethnic cleansing.”
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported deputy secretary of Fatah Central Committee Jibril Rjoub as stating Netanyahu foiled Abbas-Netanyahu meeting in Moscow.
