PRAGUE, September 8, 2016 (WAFA) –A well-informed Palestinian diplomat denied on Thursday Israeli claims that the Czech Republic has retracted an earlier position that Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel.
The diplomat told WAFA that the official Czech position, announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, has not changed.
The Czech Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it does not recognize Jerusalem as capital of Israel but that, and in line with European Union policy toward Jerusalem, it considers the holy city “as the future capital of both states, i.e. the State of Israel and the future State of Palestine.”
It said: “Tel Aviv is currently the seat of most foreign missions, including the Embassy of the Czech Republic.”
