RAMALLAH, July 28, 2016 (WAFA) – Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails started on Thursday a one-day hunger strike in protest of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)’s decision to reduce the monthly family visitation to one instead of two visits.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said the strike decision came after the ICRC asked that that the prisoners pay the expenses of one of the two family visits, and that its role will only be coordinating the visit with the Israeli prison authorities.

PPS said the ICRC’s decision further exacerbates the suffering of the prisoners and their families, given that the prisoners are incarcerated in jails that are located outside the occupied Palestinian territories.
