UN Rights Office: colonist attacks on Palestinians are systematic, not isolated incidents

RAMALLAH, June 28, 2025 (WAFA) – The spokesperson for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Thameen Al-Kheetan, expressed deep concern on Saturday over the escalating colonist violence targeting Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, stressing that these attacks are not isolated incidents.

In a press briefing, Al-Kheetan stated that dozens of armed colonists carried out coordinated attacks on June 25 targeting several villages in the Ramallah and Nablus areas. The colonists set fire to Palestinian homes and vehicles, and fired live ammunition at residents.

He added that three Palestinians were shot and killed by Israeli forces, while at least six others were injured by gunfire.during one of the attacks, on the village of Kafr Malik near Ramallah.

“This was not an isolated incident,” Al-Kheetan emphasized. “It is part of a pattern of discriminatory practices by Israeli forces, who are often present during such attacks but fail to intervene—despite their obligation, as an occupying power, to protect the Palestinian population.”

The UN official noted that reports compiled by the Office since October 7, 2023, indicate that Israeli settlers have killed 14 Palestinians in the West Bank, including two children.

The remarks come amid growing international alarm over unchecked settler violence and Israel’s failure to hold perpetrators accountable, further exacerbating tensions across the occupied territory.
