UN Security Council to hold open session on the situation in the Middle East, including the question of Palestine

NEW YORK, June 29, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold an open session on Monday to discuss the situation in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the question of Palestine.

Mohamed Khaled Khiari, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, is expected to brief Council members on the latest quarterly report by the UN Secretary-General concerning the implementation of Resolution 2334.

Adopted on December 23, 2016, Resolution 2334 demands that Israel immediately cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.

Following the open briefing, the Security Council will convene a closed consultation session later in the day to further deliberate on the matter.
