RAMALLAH, April 19, 2016 (WAFA) – The three major Palestinian dailies focused on Monday’s Israeli bus explosion in Jerusalem which left about 21 Israelis injured.
The dailies said 21 Israeli passengers were injured, including two seriously, after a hidden explosive device detonated in an Israeli bus in West Jerusalem on Monday.
Al-Quds quoted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who responded to the explosion by saying: “We will settle our accounts with those terrorists.”
On a different subject, the dailies reported that Jordan, which has administrative control over al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, canceled a decision to install cameras at the compound to document Israeli violations there.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported that Israel had detected a 2 KM tunnel extending through the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported that President Mahmoud Abbas had met the Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, and discussed the Palestinian Authority’s call for an international conference for peace in the Middle East.
The two dailies reported that an Israeli court looking into a video of a Palestinian teenager’s fatal shooting by an Israeli soldier has premeditatedly charged the soldier with involuntary manslaughter.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported that the Secretary General of the Arab league-Nabil Al-Arabi denounced Netanyahu’s comments about the Golan Heights. Netanyahu previously announced that Israel won’t abandon the Golan, and that it will remain under Israeli control forever.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida said that UNESCO decided to use the term “Al-Aqsa Mosque” and instead of “Temple Mount” after a voting with majority of 33 votes.
Al-Ayyam said that the Israeli internal security agency Shin Bet refused to reduce the activity of the Israeli forces in the West Bank.
