RAMALLAH, July 25, 2025 (WAFA) – Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Al-Sheikh, has commended French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement of his decision to recognize the State of Palestine in September.

Al-Sheikh described the move as a reaffirmation of France's commitment to international law and its support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.

In a statement, Al-Sheikh expressed his deep gratitude to President Macron for his letter addressed to President Mahmoud Abbas, in which Macron reiterated France's longstanding position and confirmed his country's intention to formally recognize the State of Palestine in September.

Al-Sheikh also extended his thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its significant efforts in working alongside France to advance the recognition of Palestinian statehood.
