RAMALLAH, July 25, 2025 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine praised the statements made by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in which he stressed the severity of the humanitarian suffering and famine endured by the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and his call to immediately stop the bloodbath and deliver urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza.
President Abbas also valued Prime Minister Starmer’s remarks that "the establishment of the State of Palestine is an inalienable right of the Palestinian people, and that a ceasefire will put us on the path toward the recognition of a Palestinian state and the implementation of the two-state solution, which guarantees peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis."
The President stated that, based on this principled stance consistent with international legitimacy and international law, "we call on the Government of the United Kingdom to officially recognize the State of Palestine immediately, as this would constitute a historic step that reinforces Britain’s moral and legal commitments and paves the way for a just and lasting peace in the region."
In this context, President Mahmoud Abbas calls on all countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to do so, stressing the importance of Palestine obtaining full membership in the United Nations.
