RAMALLAH, April 17, 2016 (WAFA)- The three Arabic dailies focused in their Sunday issue on Clashes that erupt after the funeral procession of a Palestinian who was shot dead by Israeli soldier in Hebron, together with the launching of annual events to mark the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day.
The three dailies, al-Quds, al-Hayyat al-Jadida, and al-Ayyam, reported on clashes that broke out in Hebron’s al-Arroub Refugee Camp following the funeral procession of Mahmoud Barad’yeh, 54, who was fatally shot on Thursday, after an alleged attack attempt against Israeli soldiers.
They said several Palestinians were shot and injured with rubber baton rounds, in addition to many suffocation cases due to tear gas inhalation.
The dailies also Focused on Israeli authorities’ distribution of new demolishing orders for two homes and a car wash in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan. The orders cited unpermitted building as a pretext.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida and Al-Quds reported on the launching of annual events to mark the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day. Both dailies said the events will continue until the end of this month inside the Palestine Territory and in the Diaspora. At least 7000 Palestinians are held in Israeli jails.
Meanwhile, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported on Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Saeb Erekat, as saying, the file on Palestinian prisoners [incarcerated in Israeli jails] was submitted to the International Criminal court (ICC).
Al-Ayyam and Al-Hayat Al-Jadida said president Mahmoud Abbas, had met with a number of French writers and journalists during an official visit in Paris.
Al-Ayyam said Israeli forces began sweeping and repairing the separation fence in eastern Gaza.
Al-Quds and Al-Ayyam reported that the national guards in Gaza has established new security zones for monitoring and controlling borders with Egypt.
Al-Quds said that Riad Mansour, Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations, called on the UN Security council to shoulder its responsibilities toward Israeli settlements. To be noted, settlements are considered illegal under international law.
Al-Ayyam reported that Israeli political figures have continued inciting against the Gaza strip, particularly against Hamas faction, for rebuilding its military capabilities.
