RAMALLAH, June 14, 2015 (WAFA) - The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Palestinian Territory decreased in May 2015 by 0.46% compared to April 2015, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said Sunday.
It said CPI decreased by 0.69% in the West Bank, 0.17% in the Gaza Strip, while it increased by 0.33% in Jerusalem.
May 2015’s CPI increased by 3.00% when compared to May 2014; it increased by 5.12% in the Gaza Strip, by 1.82 in the West Bank, and by 0.95% in Jerusalem.
It said that CPI during the first five months of 2015 increased by 1.47% compared with the same period of the previous year; it increased by 2.58% in Gaza, by 0.38% in the West Bank, while it decreased by 0.13% in Jerusalem.
The change in CPI for May was attributed to changes in prices of dried vegetables, potatoes and other tubers, fresh vegetables, Gas, eggs, and flour, which decreased by 13.26%, 10.94%, 10.75%, 4.32%, 3.52%, and 2.15%, respectively.
Changes were further attributed to decrease in prices of fresh fruits by 0.51%, and textiles, clothing and footwear by 0.39%.
