Abbas Offers Condolences to Turkish Mining Victims

LONDON, May 15, 2014 (WAFA) –President Mahmoud Abbas Thursday called Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan to offer condolences to victims of the coal mine explosion in the town of Soma, western Turkey.

Abbas expressed his deepest regret and sincere condolences to the families and friends who lost their loved ones in this tragic accident, while wished a fast recovery to those who were injured.

Reports said that around 787 people were inside the mine when an electrical fault caused the explosion on Tuesday.

Around 450 workers were rescued while at least 274 workers were killed in the blast.
