Finance and Health ministries work urgently to secure life-saving medicines and prevent collapse of medical services

RAMALLAH, June 6, 2026 (WAFA) – The Ministries of Finance and Health announced on Saturday that they are working intensively to complete urgent arrangements to secure emergency supplies of life-saving medicines and medical consumables, including those for cancer and chronic diseases, as part of joint efforts to manage what they described as the most severe crisis facing the health sector, in a way that preserves patients’ lives and prevents the collapse of medical services under the current critical conditions.

In a joint statement, the two ministries said they are placing the international community before its responsibilities, stressing that Israel’s withholding of clearance revenues for the second consecutive year has no longer been causing only economic and social crises, but has begun to threaten the survival of patients and exacerbate the suffering of vulnerable groups in Palestinian society, particularly children, the elderly, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities.

The two ministries, on behalf of the government, also expressed appreciation for public sector employees for continuing to serve citizens despite difficult conditions, particularly healthcare workers, including doctors and supporting medical staff.

They stressed that the government prioritizes spending available resources on essential service sectors to strengthen collective resilience, while continuing to pay a portion of salaries regularly in line with the 2026 emergency budget.
