RAMALLAH, June 6, 2026 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, on Saturday, condemned the killing of a seven-month-old Palestinian infant by Israeli occupation forces in the city of Hebron on Friday evening.
The ministry said that Israeli occupation forces deliberately and directly opened fire on a Palestinian civilian vehicle despite it being fully stopped in the Wadi al-Hariya area of Hebron, killing the infant and causing injuries of varying severity to his parents.
The ministry stressed that the killing of the infant constitutes an extrajudicial execution and a grave example of the continued targeting of Palestinian civilians, including children, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, international norms, and the most fundamental humanitarian principles.
It added that the inclusion of Israel and its institutions on the United Nations list of parties responsible for grave violations against children in armed conflict must be accompanied by effective accountability mechanisms to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
The ministry stressed that the recurrence of such crimes reflects a systematic pattern enabled by the continued impunity enjoyed by those responsible for crimes against the Palestinian people, which, it said, encourages the occupation authorities to continue the genocidal war and forced displacement throughout the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
The ministry held the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for the crime, calling on the international community, United Nations bodies, and relevant international courts to take immediate action to ensure accountability for those responsible and to hold the Israeli government accountable, provide urgent international protection for Palestinian children and the Palestinian people, and bring an end to the culture of impunity that, it said, continues to undermine international justice.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reaffirmed its ongoing political, legal, and diplomatic efforts in international forums to pursue accountability for those responsible for such crimes and ensure they do not evade justice.
It also reiterated its commitment to protecting the Palestinian people from the occupation's systematic targeting through genocide and forced displacement, and to advancing the realization of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
