MADRID, August 21, 2026 (WAFA) — Spain condemned Israel's announcement of new tenders for the implementation of the illegal "E1" settlement project in the West Bank, which aims to sever East Jerusalem from the rest of the occupied West Bank, and called for its cancellation.
In a statement, Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank violate international law and constitute an obstacle to peace and the two-state solution. It also called on Israel, the occupying power, to reverse its decision and fulfill its international obligations.
The ministry further urged the international community to assume its responsibility in promoting the implementation of the two-state solution, stressing it as the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.
